Problems while using SanDisk SD Plus card with Windows XP or 2000

An SD card is used by mobile phones, cameras, camcorders and many other such portable devices. It's prime purpose, of course, is to enable safe and convenient storage of any sort of digital data, like pictures, videos, audio clips, etc. Though these cards are compatible with almost all computers, they might encounter few problems with the same. These problems could be in the form of error message(s) or just data inaccessibility. While troubleshooting options, such as formatting, editing the registry, etc., solves many of these problems, it often leads to data loss. At such times if one does not have a back-up to turn to, then you should use an SD Card Recovery Software.

For example, when you are using the SanDisk SD Plus Card with Windows XP or 2000, you may come across some problems. Sometimes an error message might be displayed, at others it might just not function 'normally'.

Cause:

Two main reasons for the problem could be improper installation of drivers or SD card corruption..

Resolution:

Follow the steps below to resolve the problem:

1.In case of improper installation of drivers, follow the underneath steps:

Unplug the SanDisk SD card from your system.
Make sure you have a backup of the registry. (from the 'Start' menu, select 'Run', type 'regedit' and click OK, from the registry menu, select 'Export', and name the file). Save it to your desktop.
Run 'REGEDIT32' using the 'Start' > 'Run' option. Remove the below listed entries:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\DeviceClasses\{a5dcbf10-6530-…}\##?#USBSTOR#Disk&Ven_Sandisk&Prod_SD_..........
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\USB\VID_0781&PID_6100
After removing the items from the registry, restart the computer.

Once the computer has restarted, insert the SanDisk SD Plus card. It should work fine now. However, if it still gives some problems, then your memory card is corrupted. In such situations, you will need to format the card in your computer. This enhances the usage between the computer and the card. Remember to select the FAT file system while formatting the card.

Whether you format the card, or lose the data during any other step in the process, you can always recover the lost files using an SD Card Recovery Software. These tools should be carefully chosen, as fake one's could cause further problems. The tools perform SD Card Recovery even from formatted and corrupted cards.

Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery is an SD Card Recovery tool which is available for both Mac and Windows OS. The software supports JPEG, GIF, TIFF, RAW, MOV, AVI, etc. You can view thumbnail preview of the recoverable files using the free Trial Version of the software, and then use the Full version to perform the actual recovery.
