How to recover photos from a corrupt memory card ?

Memory cards are the compact storage devices that allow data storage in portable electronic devices such as mobile phones, cameras, and other such devices. Corruption in the memory card can result in severe data loss. On such case of data loss is the loss of photos in case of corruption in the memory card of a digital camera. With an updated backup of the memory card you can recover the photos lost in a corrupt memory card. But in absence of proper backup, one can still recover the photos by the use of a card recovery software.

Consider a scenario wherein you were taking pictures with your PowerShot A510, using a SanDisk 256 MB card. You upload the photos in your computer and take further photos in your card. Every thing was fine until you switched the camera from shooting mode to the viewing mode. You could no more find your photos. Further, you find the blue screen with “Canon” written on it. The green light on the camera which is located next to the view finder blinks many times and the camera turns off. On switching it back to the shoot mode to take another image, you find the light next to the view finder flashes and the on the top of the screen you find the error message that reads “memory card error”. One moment it shows some number of photos while the other moment it shows 0 number of photos. When you go to the view mode, the screen says “No Image”.

Causes:

The above erroneous condition occurs due to the corruption in the memory card.

Resolution:

To resolve the problem, you will have to reformat the card and recover the photos from an updated backup. But in case you have not kept proper backup of your memory card, you can still recover the photos by using a card data recovery software. The recovery software implements high ended algorithm to scan the memory card and recover the lost and inaccessible data from the formatted card. The recovered data is then placed in the user defined location.
